The Forbidden Library WIP

Heavily inspired by “The Name of the Rose”. You are on your way through the labyrinth of the Forbidden Library. Can you find the secret chamber and your way out, or will you burn inside the labyrinth’s living hell?

WIP (Work in Progress): The puzzles need to be improved and completed.

The labyrinth consists of a series of chambers, filled with antique books from the Middle Ages, connected by a network of tunnels, corridors and stairs. A cluster of rooms in the labyrinth constitute a historical section, and are divided into the following sections in Latin:

  • Fons Adae, ‘The Earthly Paradise’ containing Bibles and commentaries, eastern tower.
  • Acaia, Greece, Northeast.
  • Iudaea, Judea, East.
  • Aegyptus, Egypt, Southeast.
  • Leones, ‘South’ contains books from Africa, Southern Tower.
  • Yspania, Spain, Outer Southwest.
  • Roma, Italy, Inner Southwest.
  • Hibernia, Ireland, West tower.
  • Gallia, France, Northwest.
  • Germania, Germany, North.
  • Anglia, England, North Tower.
  • finis Africae, which contains the most guarded books and can only be accessed through a secret door, the South Tower.

Most rooms contain a puzzle that must be solved to find your way out of the maze:

  • Salazar – A pirate skull that must be placed in its correct place to get a hint for the next puzzle.
  • Egyptian Mask – A puzzle must be solved to unlock a hidden item that leads to the next riddle.
  • Greek Helmet – Find the location of the Greek helmet to find the next puzzle.
  • Roman Armor Shield – You need to find the right room with the right armor shield to solve the next puzzle. It’s hidden in a dark place, so it’s a good idea to bring a light-source.
  • Last Room – If you have solved the previous puzzles correctly, you also know the code that opens the door to the last room into freedom.
